A National Housing Strategy and what it means for us here in NL

A National Housing Strategy and what it means for us here in NL

There are specific items that we as humans need in life in order to survive. The most basic of these needs are food and water, with warmth, rest, safety and security following closely behind. The fact that there is a huge shortage of safe and affordable housing within our city, province, and country becomes more alarming as we realize that people’s basic human needs are not being met. As a result there are clear impacts on the health and well being of people, as well as the associated cost and effect that this has on systemic supports. A Way Home Canada, which is a national coalition of individuals and organizations from across Canada who are invested in ending homelessness, has created a report calling on the Federal Government to create a National Housing Strategy that would result in incredible benefits for individuals and families across our country.
