Journeyman Carpenter/ Foreman 

Looking to hire a full-time Journeyman Carpenter to lead and assist small crew for various construction jobs through-out the North East Avalon. This position is a year round position and will start immediately.

Position Description

Provide leadership through establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with field staff and subtrades in order to promote positive morale.

Supervision and development of site team through regular feedback and coaching.

Contribute to the development and refinement of the project schedule.

Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices to ensure scopes, terms and conditions are properly executed.

Identify and advise of design deficiencies, schedule interruptions or difficulties, and other project issues; works collaboratively with Project Manager to resolve issues.

Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performance with regards to safety, scope of work, quality of subtrades workmanship and building material.

Ensure sufficient manpower is provided to achieve safety, schedule and quality objectives.

Perform other duties as assigned 


The Successful Applicant

10+ years of construction and supervision experience. Gold Seal or Red Seal carpenter (journeyman) accreditation an asset.

Trade background with a demonstrated, progressive hands-on working experience in General Contracting.

Demonstrate competence in the areas of safety, people management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration.

Sound knowledge of construction and building techniques and ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.

Proactive problem-solver that can manage difficult situations with positive results.
