There is a busy and growing community of leaders all across the country working on new ideas for at-risk and homeless youth. On December 7th, we will be gathering several of the key players from across the country to join young people and CFY staff in a conversation to explore innovative approaches and solutions to prevent and end youth homelessness in Newfoundland and Labrador. Our panelists include:
- Melanie Redman, Executive Director, A Way Home Canada
- Stephen Gaetz, Director, Canadian Observatory on Homelessness
- Terrilee Kelford, Chair, Cornerstone Landing Youth Services
- CFY staff and members of the CFY Youth Leadership Council
This event will be hosted at the newly-opened Cochrane Centre, which has created a mix of supportive housing units and community event space in the annex of Cochrane Street United Church.

Ideas into Actions: Working Sessions on Youth Homelessness
At this half-day forum, join Choices for Youth, national colleagues, and a group of key stakeholders from government, community, and business to focus in on how to implement innovative solutions for youth homelessness in the Newfoundland and Labrador context.
The event will feature two working sessions – one on Housing First for Youth and Integrated Service Delivery and another on expanding youth housing options. We will also have a chance to work through the results of CFY’s province-wide consultations.
This is a free, invitation-only event, and lunch will be provided.
