Employment and training are essential to breaking the cycle of poverty, but with barriers like low education levels, mental health and addictions issues, and criminal justice involvement, obtaining and maintaining stable, long-term employment can be nearly impossible for at-risk youth in our communities.
The Jumpstart Program will support youth from a Harm Reduction Philosophy; meeting youth ‘where they are’. This flexible approach will support youth with their individual needs and goals, while providing an experiential learning opportunity.
Jumpstart will focus on 3 peer-mentoring opportunities:
- Personal Development with a focus on individual needs
- 13 Week Program
- Start date: Oct 7th, 2015
- End date: Jan 15th, 2015
- 3 days of program $20/day incentive per week
Community opportunities: supporting a young person volunteer, reconnect with family, maintain personal appointments, etc.
Additional incentives: movie money, Tim's cards, etc.
DEADLINE: September 10th, 2015
