Choices for Youth is a dynamic, progressive organization that empowers homeless and at-risk youth with innovative options and tools to move from street-life to more stable, healthy living situations.

We are seeking an Outreach Support Worker for the Momma Moments program. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, this position will calibrate with the Program Facilitators to work together to ensure effective program delivery.


  • Provide weekly support to programming and group sessions in consultation with Program Facilitators

  • Provide advocacy, accompaniment, and referral services to youth and their children

  • Intervene effectively and appropriately to crisis and conflict through the use of supportive counselling, program solving and clear communication

  • Ensure that services provided reflects the needs of youth and their children

  • Liaison with other agencies, professionals, government officials and the community

  • Ensure documentation of relevant youth information and documentation is in accordance with CFY’s policy on the security and maintenance of youth information

  • Recognizes, analyzes and deals with potential emergency situations

  • Nurture and contribute to the unique culture of the organization

  • Commit to helping CFY achieve the goals of its strategic plan

  • Provide outreach support in the community with families to meet there needs


  • A diploma from a recognized post-secondary program in the social science/human services field or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

  • 3+ years of experience working with vulnerable population

  • Knowledge and understanding of issues pertaining to homeless, street involved, and at risk youth

  • Ability to work independently and within a team while supporting and achieving the overall goals of the program

  • Knowledge of community resources and supports for youth and families

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills are essential

  • Demonstrated experience in using trauma-informed practise would be an asset

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook

  • Valid First Aid, CPR certification, and ASSIST

  • Drivers license and vehicle

  • Satisfactory Certificate of Conduct

Work Hours

This position will require a flexible approach to hours of work and a willingness to be creative in motivating/inspiring youth and other members of the community. Access to a vehicle is also required.


The salary for this position is $38,656 - $42,606 annually.  Choices for Youth offers a competitive compensation package, including a health and dental program, employer-matched RRSP and four weeks’ vacation to qualifying employees.
