Job Posting: Accounting Technician


Choices for Youth Inc. (“Choices”) is a dynamic, progressive organization that empowers homeless and at-risk youth with innovative options and tools to move from street-life to more stable, healthy living situations. CFY is currently seeking a full-time permanent Accounting Technician to join our Finance and Administration Team

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Technician provides assistance to payroll and accounts payable operations at CFY.

Responsibilities

Payroll

· Completion of accurate bi-weekly payroll for 90+ employees and youth

· Calculation, posting, and payment of government remittances

· Processing of ROE’s and T4’s


Accounting

· Ensuring accounts payable are coded, inputted, and processed for payments

· Ensuring credit card reconciliations are completed in a timely manner each month

· Processing employee expense, travel, and mileage claims

· Corresponding with Departmental staff on accounting matters

· Supporting the Accounting Manager and Director in year-end accounting tasks and audits

· All other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

· The ideal candidate will have completed a business diploma or a degree with a concentration in accounting. Equivalent experience or education may be considered.

· Minimum three years experience in accounting required

· Prior payroll experience required

· PCP certification is considered an asset

· Extensive knowledge of Saga 50 (Simply Accounting) required

· A satisfactory Record of Conduct/ Vulnerable Sector Check (must be bondable) is required

· A strong sense of urgency coupled with a positive can-do attitude

· A passion for helping us achieve our core values while working as a team

· Experience in a non-profit environment is considered an asset

· Proof of a Covid-19 Vaccination

REQUIRED SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS

· Demonstrated ability to manage and execute fundraising events

· Proven relationship-building skills

· Exceptional written communication skills

· Quick problem-solving abilities

· Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality and flexibility toward change


WORK HOURS

The position will work 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility in work hours will be required to accommodate higher work volumes and organizational requirements.

Hours worked in excess of regular hours will be accounted for in accordance with the overtime provisions of the Personnel, Policy, and Procedure Manual of CFY and the Labour Standards Act NL.

COMPENSATION

The salary for this position is $45,669.00 - $50,368.50 annually. CFY offers a competitive compensation package, including a health and dental program, employer-matched RRSP, and four weeks’ vacation to qualifying employees.
