Choices for Youth Inc. (CFY) is a professional service, youth-focused, non-profit, charitable organization that creates spaces and conversations and operates programs and social enterprises to help vulnerable youth secure stable housing, employment, and education while improving health and family stability. With a focus on prevention, intervention, and support, we help youth, and their families break cycles of poverty and homelessness and transition to healthy, stable, and independent lives. Our Employment, Employment, and Social Enterprise (EESE) Department is seeking to hire one full-time Employment Systems Navigator. This is a 12-month contractual position.
Meaningful employment is a key part of helping young people gain independence, detach from systems, and build confidence. With our commitment to breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty, CFY has collaborated with Stella’s Circle and the Provincial Government to carry out the ‘Employment Stability Pilot Project’. This project is intended to help people receiving Income Support transition into the workforce and improve self-reliance through new and enhanced initiatives and incentives.
Reporting to the Employment Support Coordinator, the Employment Systems Navigator will work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders including evaluators, government, and other community partners to navigate the progression of the Employment Stability Pilot Project, while contributing to the evaluation and final recommendations.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with government, community partners, and evaluators to support the maintenance of this project.
Oversee intake and assessment of participants.
Assist in the recruitment of participants.
Assist in the collection of administrative data, assessments, and related information supportive of achieving the research project's deliverables.
Work with the existing Employment Support team and other stakeholders to provide wrap-around support and system navigation for participants.
Supporting participants with change to Income Support benefits as they gain employment income.
Collaborate with the Training and Education team to create financial literacy tools for participants.
Provide financial literacy support including income benefits and reporting, banking, budgeting planning, etc.
Responsible for collating impact data and evaluation for the pilot.
Assist in reducing system barriers that participants are facing to attach and/or stay attached to the labor market.
All other duties as assigned by the Employment Support Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary degree/diploma in human services (such as social work, psychology, education, social sciences) or business administration.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience.
In-depth knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable youth, housing/homelessness, barriers to employment, mental health and substance use, trauma, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention.
Knowledge of and experience navigating provincial and federal income benefit systems.
Knowledge and experience with data management systems (ARMS and PRIME would be an asset).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Current Standard First Aid/CPR certificate.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check.
WORK HOURS
The position will work 35 hours per week and flexibility in work hours will be required to accommodate youth and program needs and to accommodate higher work volumes and organizational requirements.
COMPENSATION
The salary for this position will be $48,976.20 - $54,418.00 annually. CFY offers a competitive compensation package, including a health and dental program, employer matched RRSP, and four weeks' vacation to qualifying employees.
