Job Posting: Youth Ventures Program Coordinator


Choices for Youth Inc. (CFY) is a professional service, youth-focused, non-profit, charitable organization that creates spaces and conversations and operates programs and social enterprises to help vulnerable youth secure stable housing, employment, and education while improving health and family stability. With a focus on prevention, intervention, and support, we help youth, and their families break cycles of poverty and homelessness and transition to healthy, stable, and independent lives. Our Employment, Employment and Social Enterprise (EESE) Department is seeking to hire one full-time Youth Ventures Program Coordinator. This is a 16-week contractual position.


Reporting to the Training and Employment Lead, the Youth Ventures Program Coordinator is a hands-on leader, motivator, and conversation starter. They will take an active role in the recruitment of youth, adaptation of program materials, and delivery and evaluation of training programs. These programs offer life skills and exposure to career opportunities in entrepreneurship and self-employment and the Youth Ventures Program Coordinator will assist young people in developing and bringing a product or service to market. The Youth Ventures Program Coordinator will ensure CFY principles and practices are implemented and followed in program development and delivery.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit for and host both self-employment and small business training sessions for vulnerable populations between 16-29

  • Promote entrepreneurship as a viable career for vulnerable populations

  • Drive positive dialogue on the importance of supporting local business

  • Enroll participants in the Youth Ventures Program

  • Assist youth in developing their business ideas

  • Monitor the progress of participant businesses

  • Assist with all areas of business including sales, marketing, and finance

  • Liaise with local business mentors, community groups, and stakeholders

  • Connect participants with business support as required

  • Manage the budget for the Youth Ventures Program

  • Documentation, reports, and record keeping

  • Deliver program curriculum

  • All other duties as required


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of small business and basic business plan development

  • Proficient with word processing, presentation, spreadsheet software, and social media

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to execute ideas

  • Experience working with youth, particularly at-risk and/or marginalized youth

  • Be genuinely passionate about youth and the potential of self-employment as a career path

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Access to a vehicle is required.

WORK HOURS

The position will work 37.5 hours per week and flexibility in work hours will be required to accommodate youth and program needs and to accommodate higher work volumes and organizational requirements.


COMPENSATION

The salary for this position will be $16.00 per hour.
