Program Coordinator - Youth Ventures (16 week placement)
Choices for Youth (CFY) is a dynamic, progressive organization that empowers homeless and at-risk youth with innovative options and tools to move from street-life to more stable, healthy living situations. Currently, Choices for Youth is looking for a highly motivated Youth Ventures Coordinator for the Youth Ventures Program to become part of our team.
Reporting to the Training and Education Lead, the Youth Ventures Program Coordinator will be responsible be for the delivery and success of the Youth Ventures Program, hosted by Choices for Youth in St. John’s, NL.
Youth Ventures is a 16-week program delivered from May-August which fosters and supports entrepreneurship among young people in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Duties and Responsibilities
Recruit for and host both in-person and virtual self-employment and small business training sessions for vulnerable populations between 16-29
Promote entrepreneurship as a viable career to vulnerable populations
Drive positive dialogue on the importance of supporting local business
Enroll participants in the Youth Ventures Program
Assist youth in developing their business ideas
Develop and present workshops on developing businesses & business plans
Monitor the progress of participant businesses
Assist with all areas of business including sales, marketing, and finance
Liaise with local business mentors, community groups and stakeholders
Connect participants with business supports as required
Manage the budget for the Youth Ventures Program
Prepare reports as required
Documentation as required
Deliver program curriculum
All other duties as required
Knowledge of small business and business plan development
Proficient with word processing, presentation, video conferencing, spreadsheet software and social media
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to execute on ideas
Experience working with at-risk and marginalized youth
Be genuinely passionate about youth and the potential through self-employment
Access to a vehicle is required
Work Hours The is a 16-week contract position for 37.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Some flexibility in work hours will be required.
Compensation The hourly wage for this position will be $16.00/hr for 37.5 hours per week
This is a sixteen (16) week placement pending funding approval.
