A Wicked Time for A Wicked Cause!

Updated: Mar 16, 2020

On October 25th, witches, goblins and ghosts gathered at Bally Haly Golf Club for A Wicked Time! This was Choices for Youth’s 5th annual fall fundraising event, an evening that brings together community members, local businesses and CFY staff for a spooktacular night of fun to raise money in support of CFY.

Attendees came in their most creative costumes and were delighted to take in the “All Hallows Eve” theme as well as a complimentary tarot card reading! Our ghoulish guests participated in fun games of chance, along with live and silent auctions. Some of the hot ticket items up for bidding included a tuna fishing excursion, an exclusive dinner for 10 by Red Oak Catering, a corporate suite to take in a St John’s Edge and Newfoundland Growlers game, and a one of a kind bench created with the moms and kids of our Momma Moments program and local Yay Maker operator and artist, Emma Dooley!

But the night never stopped there -- guests were surprised with a special performance by Neighborhood Dance Works who pulled out a thrilling flash mob experience! It was a huge hit! The night ended with a killer costume contest followed by some great music and dancing. It’s a fundraiser like no other, and each year we are pleased to see so much laughter and generosity in the room.

Thanks to the many sponsors, attendees, donors and volunteers of this fun event, we were able to raise over $57,000! The donations of time, energy, and resources were very much appreciated, and every bit of support is helping to empower young families in our community. All monies raised will go towards family programming at CFY and our vision to build a Young Parents Resource Centre.

We know that when we support young families to lead healthier and more stable lives, incredible things can happen – cycles of intergenerational poverty can be broken, children can be reunited with parents, and young moms can access opportunities to create brighter futures. Together, we can end youth homelessness.
