Have you been involved with Choices for Youth (CFY) within the last 3 years? CFY is recruiting youth members for the 2022 - 2023 Youth Leadership and Advisory Council (YLAC) to inform CFY’s strategic vision, program development and advocacy work. As a youth-service agency, CFY is committed to centring lived experience in our growth and development.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
We're looking for youth with diverse backgrounds and perspectives who:
Are 16-29 years of age
Have been involved with CFY within the last 3 years, and/or are currently involved
Are able to attend monthly meetings
Are interested in developing their leadership and peer mental health support skills through training
Want to advocate for youth and young families
What you can expect:
To attend monthly YLAC meetings, with additional meetings scheduled as needed
To take part in leadership training offered by the Education, Employment, and Social Enterprise team at CFY
To complete Peer Mental Health Support certification through Lifewise
To co-lead and inform projects and events
To provide recommendations to CFY around policies, programs and services
The opportunity to present to the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team
To build new skills (e.g., public speaking, leadership, how to provide constructive feedback, conflict management, etc.)
To be compensated $25/hour for your time and expertise
