Give Youth a Home for the Holidays

Updated: Jan 6, 2022

Whether it’s finding a place to lay your head, getting that first job, reconnecting with family, or to just feeling safe – Choices for Youth is here to help and it all starts with a place to call home.

This holiday season, give the gift of home and make a difference in the lives of the 1000+ young people served at Choices for Youth every year.

Choices for Youth (CFY) is celebrating the launch of our annual winter fundraiser, Home for the Holidays, just in time for the holidays. The goal is to support the Housing First approach initiative within the CFY organization and youth in Newfoundland and Labrador find secure and stable housing. During the campaign, we’re encouraging donors with the generous spirit of giving during the month of December to donate with monetary donations of all sizes being accepted.

At CFY we experienced over a 52% increase in demand to access our services since the pandemic began.

We know that when young people experience homelessness, they become more vulnerable to mental health concerns, all young people deserve and have a right to housing, including a choice to the type of housing that they access. Housing First for Youth is grounded in the notion that young people should be able to find housing without any barriers, and once they are housed, we can then support them to work towards their goals.

Not only do young people deserve housing that is safe, affordable and meets their needs- they deserve a space where they can be themselves, and where they can find a support system. Choices for Youth served approximately 1,000 young people last year, and we can’t do that without support from the community.

When their basic needs are met, they can start making progress on their personal goals.

Give youth a home for the holidays, and give them a warm, safe space today.
