Volunteers Needed at the Outreach Kitchen!

Choices for Youth’s Outreach Youth and Engagement Centre is located in downtown St. John’s, at 12-16 Carter’s Hill Place. Our Outreach Centre is the front door to our organization – it’s a safe space where a young person can enjoy a yummy meal, build meaningful relationships, take a hot shower, find wrap-around supports for physical and mental health needs, and so much more.

Our Outreach team is recruiting for volunteers to provide support in the Outreach kitchen. There is a wonderful full-time chef who prepares hearty meals for youth, which is offered during Outreach drop-in – Monday to Friday, from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. The team is looking to secure volunteers to support any weekday in the kitchen for 3-5 hours per volunteer shift. Volunteers will play a major role in preparing, serving, and cluing up re: meals for Outreach drop-in. Some tasks volunteers may be responsible for include but not limited to:

· Cleaning, cutting, grating, and slicing ingredients

· Assisting with the cooking process

· Making coffee and preparing it to serve

· Plating or packaging food

· Serving food to youth at the serving area

· Collecting dirty dishes

· Washing and cleaning kitchen area

Please note, all volunteers must submit a satisfactory vulnerable sector check and criminal record check.
