A Wicked Time for A Wicked Cause

Updated: Dec 6, 2021

On Saturday, October 30th Choices for Youth hosted its 6th annual A Wicked Time fundraiser in support of family programming and the vision of building a Young Parents Resource Centre. The Spooktacular fundraiser was held at Spirit of Newfoundland, featuring live music, performances, silent and live auctions, festive décor, a Bone Rattlin’ Raffle, costume contest dubbed the Killer Costume Contest and the “It’s Alive! Live auction.

Custom decor was made exclusively for the event

As attendees dressed up, they were encouraged to make face masks as part of their costume in a bit to stay responsible but also have a bit of fun doing it. All guests in attendance had their vaccine passports scanned at the door upon arrival, following the Covid -19 restrictions on public gatherings currently in the province.

One of the highlights of the event, was the complimentary tarot reading that attendees received from Heather Reads Tarot . The live and silent auction had great items kindly donated by community partners and local supporters, proving to be very popular, as we were able to raise a significant amount of funds for the programs being supported. Some of the hot ticket items up for bidding included a one-of-a-kind art piece created with the moms and kids of our Momma Moments program and Funky Junk NL operator and artist, Emma Dooley, a corporate suite to the Newfoundland Rogues, a Twillingate tour and raffle prizes with two tickets that anywhere Air Canada flies in North America with many more exciting prizes.

Our guests were delighted with performances by CQ events , featuring Cornelia Styles and other guests and they were also the judges for our Killer Costume Contest—it was a huge hit with guests! Throughout the night, guests took advantage of our frightening photo-booth to capture their memories and showcase their creative costumes.

Many of our guests took Insta-worthy selfies with our photo booth.

The highlight of the night was one of the Moms from the Momma Moments program spoke at the event, and shared with the attendees her recovery and growth since joining the program. This served as a point of encouragement for the work that CFY does and a reminder of the real life impact the programs have.

Thank you to all corporate sponsors, community partners, attendees, volunteers and CFY staff for making the event truly A Wicked Time! The donations of time, energy and resources were very much appreciated, and we want to give special thanks to Spirit of Newfoundland, Keith Power, As You Wish Events, CQ Events, Underground Snax, and Air Canada for making the night possible.

All monies raised will go towards family programming at CFY and our vision to build a Young Parents Resource Centre. To learn more about family programming and our vision of building a Young Parents Resource Centre, visit our website.
